An introductory workshop designed for Centre for Microscopy and Microanalysis (CMM) facility users to learn how to access CVL and work within the desktop environment.
About
Join with us to learn how to access and use the Characterisation Virtual Laboratory (CVL) (www.cvl.org.au) virtual desktop environment. This session is suitable for CMM facility users.
This is a hands-on workshop that will prepare you to be able to commence analysing your own data from within CVL. In order to complete the activities, you must have an up-to-date web-browser like Chrome. To register for other CMM/ACCS workshops, you will need to have your CVL account set up and working. This session will help you learn the steps to set up your account, as well as going through some introductory data transfer procedures.
Workshop prerequisites:
download and install a working copy of FileZilla.
you must also have set up a staff UQ username and password (e.g. uqname1). This should not be a student account. Researchers from other institutions who are collaborating with UQ researchers through CMM may be eligible to apply for an associate or affiliate IT account. Please contact your local eResearch team for more information and assistance with setting up a UQ IT account.
Topics covered:
using StrudelWeb
logging in to CVL
transferring data using RDM, CloudStor+ and FileZilla
